The score card of the present APC administration has not gotten good grades by the citizens from all ramifications. Recently, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it is no more news that the Nigerian electorate has lost confidence in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Chairman, PDP Caretaker Committee in Oyo State, Hon. Tunde Akogun who made this revelation in Ibadan the state capital at the maiden meeting of his committee, declared that the chances of PDP to win next general elections in the state are bright.
In another development courtesy of recent tweets, the PDP twitter handle, PDP@Nigeria, stated that the party was ready to listen to advice from Nigerians going forward.“We accept responsibility for all that has gone wrong & bad in the last 16years & we give you Nigerians the credit for successes recorded,” the PDP tweeted. “We want to run a new PDP that welcomes criticism & see it as a necessity to make amends. We have tried our best as a political party but must be quick to point out that we were not perfect. We never claimed to be,” it added.
The party, which lost the presidential election and majority seats in both chambers of the National Assembly for the first time since 1999, stated however admitted that Nigeria made some gains as well as faced challenges under the different governments formed by the party.
“Under president Obasanjo’s 8years tenure, there were challenges & gains. We take full responsibility. Under president Yaradua’s tenure, militancy & other challenges were conquered. We take responsibility for everything that went wrong. “Under President Jonathan’s tenure, gains and challenges were also recorded. We accept full responsibility”, PDP said. The party also urged Nigerians to help it become a better opposition by offering genuine and sincere advice. “We are ready to listen to you and hear what you think. We require genuine and sincere advice from you because a one party system not an option”.
In a bid to offer sincere advice to Nigerian leaders especially with view to 2019 election, I totally agree with with Pastor Adolphus Olaniyo of Christ Embassy Ajegunle 2 under zone 2 and Pastor Okechukwu Anoruo the senior Pastor of Divine Power Ministry, Ogba Ikeja in their solution recipe for Nigerian leadership recently. Pastor Olaniyo said “Nigeria leaders should be honest and sincere to themselves in pursing political positions. They should know that all the great things they see and crave for in developed countries are products of good thinking. People sacrificed to build their nations and today these have become monuments for remembering them. They should always ask themselves ‘What will I be remembered for?”
Pastor Anoruo blamed the electorates who are greedy by selling their votes to politicians who don’t have their interest at heart. “Selling your vote is like selling your birth right. But it becomes more miserable, pathetic and excruciating when you know that you are selling to a more greedy person who will not want to be accountable. Power belongs to the people and until they understand that, I am afraid things might keep getting worse. It’s all a vicious circle of futility. In any case, I wish to advice the leaders to tap into philosophies of world celebrated leaders because nobody celebrates anybody for deception” he concluded
Again, all the advice that can salvage or put a responsible government on the right tract has been proffered by 57 ministers interviewed for the national prayer summit we held on the 30th of September.
