NATIONAL IMPACT MARITIME PERSONALITY OF THE MONTH: HAJIA LAMI TUMAKA; A quintessential Maritime Super Icon per excellence

Over the years National Impact has always searched for worthy and reputable personalities who have distinguished themselves in the maritime industry as Maritime personalities of the month. This month, we crossed path with the woman who has done noble having contributed immensely to the growth of the maritime sector and the country at large. In line with National Impact vision of creating positive impact in our world, we introduce to you a woman of substance, a role model and a distinguished personality whose integrity knows no antiquity in the person of Hajia Lami Tumaka. She is one of the few Nigerians who has impacted her world positively. In this edition of our publication; we celebrate her while urging her to keep up the good work.
Shakespeare wrote in one of his books titled Twelfth Night, “some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them”. Hajia Lami Tumaka has worked her way to greatness through hard work, Commitment, diligence, and confidence. She has certificates in basic Film production from TV College Jos with Distinction and Diploma in Public Relations from the prestigious Holborn College, London. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature and Masters Degree in Business Administration both from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria
Hajia Tumak started her working career at the Army Day Secondary School, jaji as a teacher. She was at various times the news Editor, NTA Minna, Public Relation Manager- Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) Limited Kaduna before joining the services of the then National Maritime Authority (NMA) as a Chief Researcher Officer in1998.
Having done excellently well in discharging her services in the maritime sector, she became the head of Public Relations unit of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) at three different occasions, Hajia Tumaka is currently the Director, Special Duties in Charge of External Relations and Technical Corporation in the office of the Direction General.
The outstanding performance in the various capacities she has served has earned her numerous awards of excellence and recognition such as; the Maritime Media Women of the year 2011 and the Best Maritime Industry Public Relations officer 2011 through a poll among several other honours.
Hajia has proven the axiom that success often comes to those who dares and acts; but its seldom goes to the timid minds who are ever afraid of adventure. She is a Fellow of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR) and also has membership of other Professional/vocational Associations including Soroptism International, Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association ( WISTA) Nigeria, Niger State Media Women Association among others.
