… as Bishop Matthew Kukah fires canon to defend Biafra

All faithful IPOB supporters across the globe are grateful to Israeli government for immersed support to Biafra agitation with regards to being recognized as an independent state. IPOB supporters in diaspora have continued to urge all southern easterners to ensure 30th May sit-at- home is a success. This will mark a period to remember over a million fallen Biafra heroes massacred by the Nigerian Government.
Obviously, No amount of pressure will make Igbos give up the struggle. We encourage all Biafrans to stand tall, firm and still. History shows that over one million innocent Biafrans died in this bloody conflict. Up till this moment Igbo are still dealing with “injustice, marginalization and exclusion in the scheme of things in their supposed father’s land.
In any case, It is important for us to provide a space for conversation and reflection with the intension of creating a productive space for mutual understanding amongst Nigerians and those in the international community to look at the themes of trauma, identity and belonging, then allow for a more personal view of the war, and humanises those who were affected by the conflict. The widespread of hunger during the war produced the images of malnourished Biafran children and this prompted a global humanitarian outcry. The suffering caused by the war on Igbo people is the reason, Indigenous People of Biafra is calling for this sit – at – home protest to mark anniversary of the Biafra Republic declared in 1967 that resulted in bloody civil war.
The camps in Okigwe area in Imo state still harbours Biafran war veterans, mostly in wheelchairs and on crutches. They stumble around with post- traumatic stress disorder in trying to carry on with the mundane tasks of life. The Biafran veterans are aged and one by one, they are dying without writing memoirs. As they die, history flies with them. Hence, It is of high degree that Ndigbo all over the world must remember our falling heroes who died fighting for Biafra and observe May 30th sit – at- home process.
It is worthy of note that the Nigerian Government and western media has continued to suppress and downplay the massacre of Biafrans; and the lasting torture of Biafran mothers and girls raped by Nigerian Government.
