The Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi in an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise daily has stated that he will be stunned if the court uphold Tinubu’s victory. He equally noted that he is not in anyway thinking of what he will do if invited to join the projected Cabinet of National Unity by President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Obi stated that he is still contesting the election and the declaration process is in court
You can recall that the APC presidential candidate’s campaign suggested that he would establish a broad-based coalition to include all of his rivals in his administration
Obi said that the election process needed to be corrected before anyone could discuss the Government of National Unity. In Peter Obi’s words, “The first thing I want to see is that the process is right. The process through which you achieve anything is far more fundamental than what you do thereafter. Let us go back first, I am challenging the process and the declaration.
“Until we get it right, then we can talk about a government of national unity. Otherwise, we would go and sit down and say that those who stopped a train and kidnapped people can call us to discuss peace when they have people in captivity. Until things are done rightly, we will be encouraging what we don’t need to encourage”.
Obi emphasized that election related issues will be resolved in court. If this country continues in this manner, I will be astounded. It will then be established that the country is a corporately criminalized. We cannot allow it. We need to start untangling this criminality, he added.
Obi went on to point out that when people talked about structure, they were referring to the fraud and criminality that we witnessed, and we want to unbundle it for the sake of our children.
The Labour Party’s presidential candidate stated that he thinks the judiciary would do the right thing.
