In a bid to foster the seamless movement of cargoes and enhance operational efficiency within Nigeria’s ports, Barr. Pius Akutah, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), reiterated the council’s commitment to promoting a conducive environment for cargo movement. 
During a recent courtesy visit to the NSC’s Headquarters in Lagos by the management team of Lekki Deep Sea Port, led by Mr. Du-Ruogang, the Managing Director of Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), discussions revolved around strategic partnerships to bolster port operations.
Barr. Akutah welcomed the delegation from Lekki Deep Sea Port and expressed the NSC’s willingness to collaborate with the port in various capacities to enhance their operational capabilities within the country. He underscored the council’s role as the Port Economic Regulator in ensuring optimal port efficiency.
Highlighting the pivotal role of Lekki Deep Sea Port in Nigeria’s economy since the commencement of its commercial operations in 2023, Mr. Du-Ruogang emphasized the port’s capacity to accommodate large vessels, thereby contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth.
In congratulating Barr. Akutah on his appointment as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the NSC, Mr. Du-Ruogang commended the council’s regulatory efforts in the nation’s ports. He acknowledged the unwavering support extended by the NSC to Lekki Port, emphasizing the mutual benefits derived from such collaborations.
Rakiya Dhikru-Yagboyaju, the Deputy Director of the Public Relations Unit at the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, endorsed the collaborative efforts between NSC and Lekki Deep Sea Port. The cooperation between these entities is aimed at enhancing port efficiency, fostering growth in Nigeria’s maritime sector, and positioning the nation as the maritime hub for West and Central Africa.
The NSC’s commitment to fostering partnerships and ensuring efficient cargo movement signifies a promising outlook for Nigeria’s maritime industry, paving the way for increased economic development and regional prominence in the maritime domain.
